Party
Age policy
Last updated 2026-10-17
Party is for adults. This page explains how we keep it that way, what hosts must do at their events, and what we never ask for.
18 or older, everywhere
You must be at least 18 to have a Party account — to host, join, chat, post photos, buy or sell tickets. This applies in every country, including those where adulthood or the drinking age starts earlier or later.
How your age is checked
- When you create your account — by email, Apple or Google — you enter your date of birth. Our server checks it and does not store it. Party keeps only that you are 18 or older, when and how this was confirmed, or that the check refused the account.
- On iPhones where Apple applies age rules to your Apple Account (for example in some US states), the app also asks Apple — you choose whether to share — whether you are 18 or older. Apple shares an age range, never your date of birth. If it shows that you are under 18, the account is refused, whatever date was typed.
- This is a declaration, not an ID check. Party never asks for ID documents, photos of your face or other proof, and stores none.
- The rule is enforced by our servers, not only by the app: an account that has not confirmed its age cannot host, join or post anything.
If you are under 18
You cannot use Party. An account under 18 is refused and deleted after 30 days — at once if the date shows a child under 13. We keep only a one-way code made from the email address (and the Apple or Google account id), so that the same account cannot simply be created again with another date. If the refusal is a mistake — for example a mistyped year — write to support@partyapp.io and a person will review it. Parents or guardians who believe their child has an account can ask us to close it at the same address.
Countries with stricter rules
In Brazil and Australia, a declared date of birth is not enough under local rules. There, the website does not let you finish signing up; use Party for iPhone instead, where Apple confirms that the account holder is an adult before an 18+ app can be downloaded.
Age limits of events
- Hosts give every event an age limit: none, 16+, 18+ or 21+. It is shown on the event, on your ticket and on your Wallet pass.
- Hosts also say whether alcohol is served. The app warns a host when the age limit and the alcohol do not fit common rules — for example spirits at an event without an 18+ limit.
- Events imported from other sources show their age limit as “not stated” unless the source gives one.
What hosts must do
- Follow the age and alcohol rules of the place where the event happens — in Switzerland, for example, no beer or wine under 16 and no spirits under 18; in the USA, no alcohol under 21.
- Check IDs at the door whenever the law or the event’s age limit requires it. For events with an age limit, the door scanner reminds the person scanning: “Check ID”.
- Do not invite or admit minors to events for adults, and never serve them alcohol.
- Hosts who sell tickets must be adults on Party too, and are verified by our payment provider Stripe, which checks their identity.
Reporting
If you believe someone on Party is under 18, or an event breaks age or alcohol rules, report it in the app (“…” › Report) or at partyapp.io/report. A person on the Party team reviews every report; accounts of minors are closed.
Your data
We collect as little as possible: no date of birth, no ID documents. What we keep and why is described in the Privacy Policy.
