Party
Tickets, refunds and cancellations
Last updated 2026-10-17
How tickets for events on Party work — free and paid — and what happens when plans change. This page is part of the Terms of Use. For events from other sources (Eventfrog, Ticketmaster) the rules of the site you book on apply.
Who you are dealing with
Every event on Party is organised by its host, not by Party. Your arrangement for entry is with the host. Party provides the technology: the invitation, the guest list, your ticket and the check at the door — and, for paid tickets, the payment through Stripe.
Getting a ticket
- Free events: you get your ticket when you join, accept an invitation or — if the host approves guests themselves — once the host has approved you.
- If an event is full, you can join the waitlist. When a place frees up, the next person moves up automatically and is told.
- If the host allows +1s, each person you bring gets a ticket of their own.
- Paid events: the price shown is the total you pay; Party charges buyers nothing on top. Before you pay you see who sells the ticket — the host, privately or as a business. For events with an age limit of 16 or more, you confirm that you meet it.
Paying
- You pay on Stripe’s secure payment page by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Party never sees or stores your card details.
- Your places are held for 30 minutes while you pay. Your ticket is issued only once Stripe has confirmed the payment — never just because a page says it went through.
- If the payment fails or you cancel it, nothing is charged and the places are released.
- Stripe emails a receipt and Party sends a confirmation. Your purchases and receipts are in the app under You › Settings › Purchases.
Your ticket
- Your ticket is a QR code in the app (Tickets) and on the website (partyapp.io/tickets). You can add it to Apple Wallet; the pass carries the same code and updates itself.
- One ticket admits one person, once. A code that was already scanned shows “Already used” at the door.
- Your own ticket is personal. A +1 ticket may be passed on to the person you bring.
- Do not post your code publicly: whoever shows it first gets in.
Refunds
- If the host cancels the event, every paid ticket is refunded in full, automatically.
- If the event is postponed or changed substantially (date, place or nature), you can ask for a full refund — write to the host or to support@partyapp.io.
- If the host takes back a paid ticket (removes you from the guest list), it is refunded in full.
- If a payment arrives after the last place has gone, or you were charged twice for the same place, you are refunded in full, automatically.
- Otherwise a paid ticket cannot be returned unless the host agrees. Tickets for an event on a fixed date carry no statutory right of withdrawal (in the EU: Article 16(l) of Directive 2011/83/EU). Rights you have under the law where you live are not affected.
- Refunds go back to the card or wallet you paid with. Stripe sends them at once; your bank usually shows them within 5–10 business days.
At the door
The entry rules shown on the event apply, including its age limit. Hosts and venues may ask for ID and refuse entry in accordance with the law and their house rules. If you are refused because you do not meet a rule that was shown on the event — for example its age limit — a refund is up to the host.
If something went wrong
Talk to the host first, or write to support@partyapp.io — we help sort it out. If you dispute a card payment with your bank, the tickets of that order are suspended until the dispute is decided; if it is decided for the host, they are restored.
If you delete your account
Your tickets are deleted with your account. Tickets you have not used yet — free or paid — are lost, without a refund; the app tells you before you delete. Tickets in Apple Wallet stop working.
